About Kitty McKay - Founder of NurtureNet.com
During her twenties and thirties, Kitty was a rising star in business. As a twenty-something spunky American woman, fluent in Japanese and running a multi-million dollar trade in the hip Japanese fashion industry, her story was a regular television, newspaper and magazine feature. Returning to the States in her thirties, she and her husband blew the doors off by turning a cocktail napkin sketch of an idea into a regional chain of organic seafood restaurants.
Then her world shattered. In rapid succession, she lost her mother to Alzheimer's, her second baby at birth and her beloved husband of ten years to a sudden, deadly heart attack. Many worried this final blow would break her heart beyond mending... Remarkably, the opposite occurred. Through a blend of unwavering faith and the heartfelt support of her community, she was able to transform loss into life.
Along the way, Kitty realized that the support she was receiving (comforting meals, help with housework, people's hopes and prayers) had become an actual, sustaining force – helping mend her fractured heart. She hoped one day to find a way to deliver such compassion to others. Five years later, she created NurtureNet.com. Now people close to home, and worldwide, can easily send and receive what we all need most – Help and Hope.
